WEST ADDISON, Vt. (AP) — Need a ferry slip?
The state of Vermont is auctioning a custom-made ferry slip it had built to help passengers cross Lake Champlain while a bridge was being replaced between West Addison and Crown Point, N.Y.
A 24-hour ferry carried passengers across the lake after the old Lake Champlain Bridge shortly after it was closed in late 2009 when it was found to be unsafe and the opening of a new bridge in the same location last fall.
The ferry slip was built to help the ferries load and unload vehicles and people.
It includes two lift master gates, four counter weights, a ramp and a variety of other components.
The slip is being auctioned through the website auctionsinternational.com.
The auction runs through Aug. 7.
