Another meth lab raided

PLATTSBURGH — Two men have been arrested in the second local meth-lab raid in two days.

Michael F. Meigs, 35, of Plattsburgh and Francis H. Estes, 20, of Keeseville are charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony.

Authorities made the arrests Thursday night at Meigs's home address, 6 First St., in the Town of Plattsburgh off Wallace Hill Road.

The Adirondack Drug Task Force, Plattsburgh City Police and State Police suspected a methamphetamine lab was located at the home and conducted the raid.

Several people, including a child, were evacuated from the residence, City Police said in a statement.

"Drug Enforcement Administration special agents, wearing protective gear, collected evidence and removed contaminated property from within and around the residence throughout the evening," it said.

Meigs and Estes, who will be arraigned in Town of Plattsburgh Justice Court, also face misdemeanor charges of seventh-degree criminal

possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and second-degree criminal possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material.

The investigation was continuing, City Police said, and more arrests and charges are expected.

Tuesday, authorities crashed a meth lab on Eleanor Way in the City of Plattsburgh, arresting three men.

More information will be added to this story as it becomes available.

When J.J. Abrams took over the "Star Trek" franchise in 2009, he boldly went where the series hadn't gone before — romantically — pairing Uhura with Spock. Many fans disliked the change. Some loved it. Others didn't care, because they just wanted to see Kirk and Spock make out.
