Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Pavone now officially faces murder charges

PLATTSBURGH — When Anthony "Tony" Pavone is located, he will be charged for the weekend double murders in Dannemora.

The 52-year-old Morrisonville man has been wanted for questioning in the shooting deaths of Timothy Carter, 52, of Dannemora and Patricia Howard, 43, of Plattsburgh.

But as the nationwide search for him continued Thursday, warrants were issued for his arrest.

"We have obtained two warrants charging him with murder in the second degree," Bureau of Criminal Investigation Capt. Robert LaFountain said Thursday night.

LaFountain said that means "he will be arrested for the murders of Tim and Patty" once he is captured.

Police were called to Carter's Route 374 home early Sunday morning after Howard called the Plattsburgh State Police barracks to report that Pavone, her ex-boyfriend, was outside the residence and refused to leave the property.

When troopers arrived, they found signs of forced entry and the couple shot to death inside the home.

A massive manhunt has continued since then with aerial and ground searches across the North Country.

LaFountain said a number of new leads were followed Thursday, but none were fruitful. The search will continue today.

Pavone is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs around 180 pounds and has black hair, brown eyes and a mustache.

Anyone who has seen him or his truck — a black 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck with New York license plates EAK 3536 — is asked to call the police at 563-3761 or dial 911 immediately. Pavone's truck had a snowplow frame, a Marine Corps rectangular bumper sticker, a Marine Corps circular sticker on the rear window and a yellow light on the roof.

The Press-Republican earlier this week asked for release of the 911 recording where Howard called police. She has been described by LaFountain as "not frantic" and expressing no threat of violence.

He said the Freedom of Information Act request will be passed through channels.
