Don’t state as a fact something that is unsubstantiated or that our editors wouldn't know to be true.

Don’t presume someone’s guilt in a case when it hasn't been established by a court.

Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

We monitor comments Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Approval of comments outside these times may be delayed.

Chateaugay School Board plans meeting

CHATEAUGAY — The Chateaugay Central School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, at the school.

Agenda items include driver’s education, the building project, the 2013-14 budget and spring coaches.

The meeting is open to the public.

BOCES to host sessions

on curriculum changes

GLENS FALLS — Race to the Top Network Team facilitators with the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES will hold two information sessions regarding the curriculum changes associated with the implementation of the Common Core Learning Standards.

The presentations will take place 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, in the Fort Ann Central School District cafeteria and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Glens Falls City School District.

The sessions are free and open to the public.

Village of Dannemora budget on agenda

DANNEMORA — Dannemora Village Board will hold meetings to work on the budget at the Village Office at 7 p.m. Monday, March 11, and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14. 

The sessions are open to all.

Willsboro Central School Board agenda set

WILLSBORO — Willsboro Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the conference room.

Agenda items include presentations, business and finance discussions.

The meeting is open to the public.

Chazy School Board

plans budget discussion

CHAZY — The Chazy Central Rural School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the school.

Topics of discussion will include school safety, substitutes, the 2013-14 budget, advisers and the capital project.

The meeting is open to the public.

NCCS School Board

working on budget

MOOERS — Northeastern Clinton Central School will meet to work on the 2013-14 budget at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the Mooers Elementary cafetorium.

The meeting is open to all.

Saranac Lake School Board to meet Tuesday morning

SARANAC LAKE—The Saranac Lake Central School Board will hold a special meeting from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, in High School room 009.

An executive session will be held to discuss the medical, financial, credit or employment history of a particular person or corporation. The board will discuss matters leading to the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension dismissal or removal of a particular person or corporation.

A public session will follow.

The meeting is open to the public.
