Boil-water order expired

PLATTSBURGH — The boil-water order for the neighborhood along Margaret Street and Boyton Avenue has been lifted in the City of Plattsburgh.

The order was issued Monday to about 40 residences after a water main broke on Margaret Street.

The main was repaired the same day.

City Water Plant Manager Willard Todd said tests on the water from Tuesday and Wednesday both came up clean, and the order was lifted Thursday morning.

 

Webinar today discusses drug abuse

ALBANY — An educational webinar on the dangers of prescription-drug abuse takes place from 1 to 2 p.m. today, hosted by United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian. 

Parents, educators, school nurses, counselors, law enforcement, community leaders and others are invited to register to participate. 

To sign up for the free presentation, go to www.justice.gov/usao/nyn and click on the provided link. The state-wide educational webinar is broadcast through the support of the Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services, and many federal, state and local agencies.

The primary focus is to educate communities, schools and agencies about the dangers of abusing prescription and over-the-counter medicines, while providing viewers with the tools and strategies to address prescription-drug abuse.

 

Village of Champlain changes meeting dates

CHAMPLAIN — The Champlain Village Board will hold its next regular meeting at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 1, rescheduled from Monday, Oct. 8.  

The regular session set for Monday, Nov. 12, will now take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5.

Meetings, open to the public, are held at the Village Office, 1104 Route 9, in Champlain.

 

LPCS Board to meet Oct. 2

LAKE PLACID — There will be a work session and regular meeting of the Lake Placid Central School Board on Tuesday, Oct. 2. 

The work session is set for 5:30 p.m., and the regular meeting will begin at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Administrative Services Center, 50 Cummings Road, Lake Placid, New York.

Agenda items include a report on the status of the budget, a presentation by Tammy Morgan on recycling and staff appointments.

The public is welcome.
