New radio station premieres

PLATTSBURGH — North Country Radio Inc., parent company of WSLP-FM serving the Tri-Lakes and surrounding region, this week launched B100.7 WPLB.

Formerly WXMR, B100.7 is playing some of the most recognized music from the 1980s, ‘90s and today, mixed with a local flavor.

According to station management, B100.7 will serve the interests of the communities in and around Plattsburgh and the Adirondack Coast.

“We are so incredibly excited to be able to bring a sound, and really an overall philosophy, to the Plattsburgh area that will connect with the community and businesses in a way like never before,” Jim Williams, vice president of North Country Radio and general sales manager of B100.7 and 93.3 WSLP in Lake Placid, said in a news release.

According to the release, the weekday lineup will feature morning drive host John Harper, who is dedicated to starting your work day with a smile; news reporter Sandy Caligiore, who will provide local news headlines and updates throughout the morning; midday host Angie Evans, who offers a familiar voice during the day; and afternoons with Paul Varga, featuring a variety of adult beats and tunes.

Varga also serves as program director for both B100.7 and 93.3 WSLP.

“It’s rare that such talent is so united in bringing great and relevant local content to a community,” he said in a statement. “I can’t wait to see how much good we can do for Plattsburgh and the Adirondack Coast. And fun, too. Don’t forget the fun.”

On weekends, B100.7 will feature “Rock and Roll’s Greatest Hits,” Dennis Mitchell’s “Breakfast with the Beatles,” “Acoustic Storm” and other special programming.
