---- — SARANAC — Route 3 traffic here was stalled for miles at about 7:15 p.m. as numerous fire departments worked to quench a garage fire near the Town of Saranac hamlet of Riverview.
Power lines across the road have halted movement.
Crews from Saranac and Cadyville were dispatched to the blaze at about 5:45 p.m., with a call going out for a tanker task force about 15 minutes later made up of crews and trucks from the Ellenburg Depot, Morrisonville, Lyon Mountain and Dannemora departments.
The detached garage stood just a few feet from a home; information was not available Friday evening on the exact address or name of the property owner, but it is located near 5555 Route 3.
Plattsburgh District 3 was called to stand by with a pumper and crew at Saranac Volunteer Fire Department's Station 1 on Route 3, with the same aid from Peru requested for Saranac's Station 2 in Redford.
Just before 6:30 p.m., dispatch called for Keeseville Fire Department to stand by with a pumper truck at the Peru station.
