Moira man killed in two-car accident

Another man hospitalizedafter early morning wreck

BANGOR — A Moira man was killed and another man was hospitalized following an early morning crash on County Route 8.

Cody D. O’Connor, 21, died Saturday when he lost control of his 2007 Suzuki SX4 and struck an embankment at about 4 a.m., according to a press release from Malone-based State Police.

He was headed west when, police say, for unknown reasons he lost control of his car at a curve in the road.

Justin C. Supernault, 21, of Brushton was behind O’Connor in a 2004 Hyundai Elantra at the time of the accident and also swerved at the curve.

Supernault’s car hit an embankment and flipped over before hitting O’Connor’s Suzuki, police said.

Both cars were completely demolished in the accident.

Following the crash, Franklin County Coroner Brian Langdon pronounced O’Connor dead at the accident site before his body was taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center.

Police said an autopsy will be performed at a later date.

Supernault was diagnosed with multiple facial fractures at Alice Hyde, police said, before being transferred to Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington.

He was admitted to the hospital, but they were unable to provide any information regarding his condition.

The Troop B Reconstruction Unit and State Police are still investigating what caused the fatal crash.
