Tiffany C. Hyacinthe of Plattsburgh has been placed on the Dean's List for the fall 2008 semester at The University of Maine. She has also been accepted into the National Honor Society (magna cum laude).
The following students have been named to the Dean's List: Katie Reed, daughter of Jesse and Diane Reed of Redford and a graduate of Saranac Central School, at SUNY Cortland; Janna Belser-Ehrlich, daughter of Ona Belser and Jeff Ehrlich of Plattsburgh, at Skidmore College; Kevin Cross of Morrisonville, with honors, son of Ralph and Samantha Cross and a graduate of Saranac Central, at The College at Brockport State University of New York; Katelyn Molzan of Plattsburgh, graduate of Peru Central with a 4.0 GPA and member of the swim team, at the State University of New York at Cortland; Benjamin Perry of Plattsburgh, at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga.; and Chelsey N. Defayette of Plattsburgh, at Stonehill College, Easton, Mass.
Rajesh Reddy of Malone has earned a doctor of medicine from the University of Vermont.
Alexandria Blake Sisson of Champlain, a senior at Northeastern Clinton Central School, has been named this year's recipient of the Knapp North Country Scholarship. Sisson will put the funds toward a degree in journalism at Plattsburgh State.
Katie Chevalier has received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree from Clarkson University in Potsdam. Katie, a 1999 graduate of Chazy Central Rural School, obtained a B.S. degree in business administration in 2003 and an M.S. degree in physical therapy in 2005, both from Clarkson University. Katie is employed by Gilford Physical Therapy in Gilford, N.H., where she specializes in aquatic, vestibular, and neurological rehabilitation.
Michelle Chevalier graduated from Rush University Medical School in Chicago, Ill. She was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and received the Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement for women showing promise to impact the field of medicine. She was awarded the Rush University Medical Staff Prize, a $2500 award, as the medical student with the highest achievement in clinical excellence. Michelle continues her medical education as an internal medicine resident at the University of Chicago and thereafter, begins a residency in dermatology at Cook County Medical Center in Chicago. Michelle is a 1997 graduate of Chazy Central Rural School, and a 2001 graduate of Colgate University.
Katie and Michelle are the daughters of David and Brenda Chevalier of Rindge, N.H., formerly of Chazy. Their grandparents are Evelyn Gonyo of Mooers, the late Arnold Gonyo and the late Andrew and Stella Chevalier.
Boston University, Boston, Mass., awarded academic degrees to the following students: Jeremiah K. Alexander, a Doctor of Medicine in medicine, cum laude; and Ross D. Vinograd, a Master of Business Administration in business administration and management, high honors.
Elizabeth M. Alsina of Saranac Lake and Victoria A. Green of Plattsburgh have been named to the Dean's List at Boston University for the spring semester.
Christopher McMillan of Morrisonville graduated with a degree in financial economics at the 116th commencement exercises at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.
Elise Thendara Munn, daughter of Juliet and Robert Munn Jr. of Ellenburg Depot, has graduated from Emma Willard School in Troy. She played varsity soccer and was on the track team, qualifying for nationals in the 400 meter hurdles. As a peer educator in her junior year, Munn was responsible for monitoring the emotional health of the students on her hall. She will attend The George Washington University.
James (Robby) Silver, son of James and Deborah Silver of Cadyville, has been named to the Dean's List for the spring semester of his junior year with a GPA of 3.90. Silver is majoring in marketing at Pace University in Manhattan. He is a 2006 graduate of Saranac High School.
The following local residents graduated from Connecticut College in New London, Conn.
Frank Jeffrey Nemec of Rouses Point was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received a certificate from the Goodwin-Niering Center for Conservation Biology and Environmental Studies, an environmental studies certificate program. Interdisciplinary centers are unique academic programs that encourage the exploration of important issues across traditional disciplinary boundaries. Certificates are earned after the completion of a two-year program of coursework, a summer internship and a senior integrative project, in addition to major requirements.
Caitrin Elizabeth Herdic of Champlain was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree. Herdic was awarded a degree with distinction in biological sciences and graduated summa cum laude.
David George Kellogg of Saranac Lake was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree. Kellogg was a awarded a degree with distinction in history.
Kristi L. LaCount, daughter of Bill and Linda LaCount of Plattsburgh, has been placed on the Dean's List for the spring 2009 semester at the State University of New York College at Cortland.
A Childhood education major with a mathematics concentration, LaCount is a 2006 graduate of Saranac Central School.
The following students have been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2009 semester at the University of Vermont: Amanda Sorrell of Altona, a senior animal sciences major in the College of Agiculture & Life Sciences; Joanna Quale of Lake Placid, a senior early childhood preschool major in the College of Education & Social Services; Antonin Hollop of Plattsburgh, a sophomore biology major in the College of Arts & Sciences; Matthew Phillips of Plattsburgh, a sophomore history major in the College of Arts & Sciences; Adam Roberts of Plattsburgh, a junior biology major in the College of Arts & Sciences; Kelsey Cook of Saranac, a sophomore undeclared major n the College of Arts & Sciences; Luke Neill of Saranac Lake, a sophomore biology major in the College of Arts & Sciences; and Grace Carlin of West Chazy, a junior public communication major in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences.
Caitrin Elizabeth Herdic, a 2009 graduate of Connecticut College in New London, Conn., and a resident of Champlain, was inducted into the Connecticut College chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Herdic is a 2005 graduate of Northeastern Clinton Central High School and is the daughter of Janet McFetridge and Clarke Herdic of Champlain.
Shaina Spring was named to the Dean's High Honors List at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, where she is studying journalism, advertising and public relations. Spring is a 2008 graduate of Peru Junior-Senior High School. She is the daughter of Sue Ann Saltarelli, formerly of Peru.
Tyler Jock of Hogansburg and Daniel Keith of Vermontville received degrees in the Class of 2009 at Alfred State College.
Taylor Wright-Sanson, a part-time Wilmington resident and Northern Lights School Alumnus spent the fall semester of the 2008-09 academic year on foreign exchange with the Waldorf School of Lausanne, Switzerland. Wright-Sanson competes and does a mix of street, freestyle and trials unicycling.
While Wright-Sanson was in Europe, auditions were held in the United States for Circus Smirkus and, not wanting to miss the opportunity, Wright-Sanson contacted a unicyclist in France, Emmanual Ribereau, who Wright-Sanson had met when Ribereau spent a semester on foreign exchange in Saratoga Springs.
The two unicyclists met in Colmar, France, and made an audition video to submit to Circus Smirkus which successfully earned them a spot on this year's tour. The boys traveled to Smirkus World Headquarters in Greensboro, Vt., to begin training with international coaches and choreographers to prepare for the 2009 Smirkus Ever After Tour. Wright-Sanson performed in Saratoga Springs July 5 and 6 and in Burlington, Vt., July 1, 2 and 3.
This will be Wright-Sanson's fourth summer performing with Circus Smirkus.
Wright-Sanson is a junior at the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs. He is an honor student and a member of the school's juggling club.
