PLATTSBURGH — The Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration is packed with music, and the preview continues tonight and Thursday with more concerts.
Here are some of the highlights of what's happening this week (admission buttons cost $10 and get you in to all events):
TODAY
7 p.m.: Zip City concert, Trinity Church, Plattsburgh. Part of the annual Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration. Admission by button, available at the door.
THURSDAY
5 p.m.: Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration. Memorial to lost soldiers, Riverside Cemetery.
7:30 p.m.: U.S. Navy Northeast Ceremonial and Concert band, Stafford Middle School. Admission by button, available at the door.
FRIDAY
11 a.m.: Unveiling of memorial monument to British war dead on Crab Island, including descendent of the first casualty at Culver Hill. People will have to arrange their own transportation.
4 to 8 p.m.: Macdonough Monument open for self-guided tours.
6 p.m.: "The Redcoats are Coming!" by Donald E. Graves, War of 1812 Museum, 31 Washington Road.
4:30 p.m.: Roy Hurd, Israel Green Tavern, in the basement of Trinity Church, Plattsburgh.
7 p.m.: Beartracks, City Hall Steps.
9 p.m.: U.S. Navy Band Northeast short program, City Hall steps, followed by national anthem; also, Blue Note Dixie Band, Israel Green Tavern.
9:30 p.m.: Rockets Red Glare fireworks, Macdonough Monument, Plattsburgh.
SATURDAY
Day-long events downtown and at Old Base museum campus, including lectures, tours, children's activities, encampment at Kent-Delord House Museum, food and more.
9 a.m.: Sixth-annual Cannonball Fun Run, Plattsburgh Base Oval. 5K and 10K run, 1 mile run/walk. Registration forms at Cannonball Fun Run, 94 Bradford Road, Plattsburgh.
10 a.m.: U.S. Navy Band Northeast, CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh.
10 a.m. to noon: Pipe and drum and fife and drum mini-concerts, Farmers Market, Macdonough Monument and Kent-Delord House Museum.
11 a.m.: Battle of Plattsburgh Challenge Cup bateau race, Champlain Monument; and Plucky Rooster Contest awards, Trinity Park.
Noon: The Rogues, Israel Green Tavern.
12:15 p.m.: Kids muster in Trinity Park, followed by kids' parade.
1 p.m.: Parade starts at Elks Lodge on Cumberland Avenue and proceeds through downtown, followed by Beat Retreat by massed bands.
3:15 p.m.: Rotary of Plattsburgh Bed Race, City Hall Place, followed by annual Rotary Club Roducky Derby.
4:30 p.m.: Towne Meeting, Israel Green Tavern.
5 p.m.: Eliza Mooers Historic Walking Tour, Macdonough Monument.
7 p.m.: Charlie Stone's Split Rock Band, Israel Green Tavern.
7:30 p.m.: Her Majesty's Royal Marine Band, Stafford Middle School.
8 p.m.: Too Tall String Band, Israel Green Tavern; and Macomb Ball with Trio Arcanson, Seton Academy, 23 St. Charles St., Plattsburgh, period music.
SUNDAY
