PLATTSBURGH — A Mooers man has admitted that he forced himself on a disabled woman in December 2008.
Bryce Davison had been facing a charge of first-degree rape for about a year in connection with the alleged rape and sexual abuse of the woman.
He was later released from custody on bail, and his case went before a jury in June.
But after seven hours of testimony and 14 hours of deliberations, a judge declared a mistrial when jurors were unable to reach a decision in the case.
Davison recently returned to Clinton County Court to face the indictment against him. He opted to plead guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge of sexual misconduct.
The 33-year-old will now have to serve one year in Clinton County Jail for his actions.
He was fined and cannot have any contact with the victim, Assistant District Attorney Domenica Padula said Friday.
Davison must also pay a court surcharge.
