Trial date set in Black Brook man's rape case

PLATTSBURGH — A new trial date has been set for a Black Brook man accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl.

William O'Daniel has been free on $50,000 bond for more than a year after he was arrested for the alleged abuse.

He has since been facing two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree attempted rape and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The 33-year-old has been set to go on trial several times this year, but the case has repeatedly been adjourned to accommodate other proceedings.

Clinton County Assistant District Attorney Domenica Padula said O'Daniel's case is now set to be heard by a jury Oct. 12.

Authorities believe O'Daniel raped, fondled and then attempted to rape the alleged 6-year-old victim another time over the course of three days in 2006.
