PLATTSBURGH — Authorities say a Morrisonville man fled deputies Wednesday night and was then found to be intoxicated behind the wheel — his second alleged offense in fewer than 10 days.
Clinton County sheriff's deputies say they tried to stop Shawn Tuper on Banker Road at about 11 p.m., and the 28-year-old allegedly refused to pull over.
The unlicensed driver kept going, finally stopping at his nearby Harpp Street home, police said.
When he got out of his car, deputies administered field-sobriety tests, which Tuper reportedly failed.
He was subsequently taken into custody for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failing to obey a police officer.
Tuper was also cited for driving with insufficient tail lights.
According to the Sheriff's Department, Tuper was just arrested for DWI last week.
But because that case is still pending and has not resulted in a conviction, authorities lodged his latest alleged offense as a misdemeanor, rather then a felony.
Tuper will appear in Plattsburgh Town Court later this month to face the allegations.
