SCHUYLER FALLS — A woman was injured when she was struck by a car Sunday afternoon.

Mike Lashway said his stepdaughter, Kerina Kent, 26, was struck in front of his home at 167 Kent Falls Road in the Town of Schuyler Falls at about 1:30 p.m.

"She said she couldn't move her hips," he said.

Mr. Lashway and Kent's mother, Tammy Lashway, were visibly shaken by the accident.

Kent was struck by a blue Hyundai Elantra sedan headed east on Kent Falls Road as the driver rounded a sharp right hand turn. The car had two large dents in its front right fender.

The driver of the vehicle, wearing sandals, shorts and no shirt, was being interviewed by police at 2 p.m. He also spoke with Mr. Lashway on several occasions but declined to speak with the Press-Republican other than to say this was the worst thing that could happen to someone.

The residential neighborhood has a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour. The accident happened about 1.5 miles east of the closed Kent Falls Road bridge over the Saranac River.

The roads were dry and the sky was cloudy at the time of the accident. There were no skid marks apparent on the road.

New York State Police declined to release any information in the immediate aftermath of the accident.

Kent was transported to CVPH Medical Center by Morrisonville EMS ambulance. She was discharged Sunday night. The extent of her injuries were unknown.
