AKWESASNE — The defense for a Quebec woman accused of killing a pedestrian early Friday asked for more time to discuss charges with prosecutors.
Jessica Lazore, 27, was charged by St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police with first-degree vehicular manslaughter and aggravated driving while intoxicated in the death of Tyson Arquette.
He was reportedly struck by Lazore while walking on St. Regis Road near the intersection of Pyke Road at about 5:15 a.m. Jan. 15, which was his 21st birthday.
Neither police officials nor the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office would disclose the exact cause of death on Wednesday.
Lazore is being held in County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, and her minivan was impounded by Massena-based State Police.
She appeared in Bombay Town Court Tuesday, and her defense attorney, Peter Dumas, asked for more time to confer with the DA’s Office about the charges.
