Plattsburgh Town Council appointments made

PLATTSBURGH — A number of Town of Plattsburgh officials were reappointed to their positions during the Town Council's 2012 organizational meeting.

Town Councilor Martin Mannix will again serve as deputy supervisor.

Town Supervisor Bernie Bassett said Mannix brings a great deal of experience to the council and has been able to secure grants for a number of projects that might not have been tackled otherwise.

"I'm very pleased to have Marty in that position again," Bassett said.

HISTORIANS

Jerry Bates was reappointed as town historian, and William Glidden will again be deputy town historian.

Town Councilors Gerard Renadette and Tom Wood said both men are incredibly devoted to honoring the town's history.

Bassett noted that they don't even get paid for their work.

Diane Miller was reappointed as town budget officer, David Duquette is back as town dog-control officer, and Arthur Maggy was reappointed as town bingo inspector.

James Coffey will remain as town attorney and C.J. Madonna as deputy town attorney.

Pamela St. John and Pamela Esposito were reappointed as town court clerks.

"There's two other employees who work extremely hard in one of the busiest courts in New York state," Wood said.

The council also renewed a contract for David Kimmel of Kimmel Technologies Integrated Services to provide management of the town website as an independent contractor and consultant.

Lamoy said Kimmel has done a phenomenal job since he started in that role last year.

"He provides a really good service, and we're very happy with it," Lamoy said.

ZONING BOARD

The council accepted the resignation of Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman Wallace Day.

"I know from talking with the other members of the Zoning Board of Appeals he was a respected member and as such was chosen chairman three times," Renadette said.
