Crazy 8 to open in Champlain Centre

PLATTSBURGH — A Crazy 8 store is expected to open at Champlain Centre mall next spring.

The company offers clothing for children from newborns to age 14, “designed with colorful, high-quality fabrics and detailed touches throughout,” a press release from the mall said.

Crazy 8 has about 300 stores across the United States and is part of the Gymboree Corp.

“It features fashionable outfits designed for every minute of a child’s busy schedule — at school, after school, bedtime and on weekends,” the release said.

The store will be located next to FYE, with renovation expected to start next month.

The company opened its first store in August 2007 and currently operates more than 293 Crazy 8 and Crazy 8 Outlet stores, including one at Colonie Mall in Albany. There is also an online store at www.crazy8.com.

The Gymboree family of companies includes Gymboree, Gymboree Play and Music, Janie and Jack Retail Shops, Crazy 8 and Shade.

The company reported net sales of $268.8 million for the second quarter of 2012, which ended in July. The company expects to open 90 Crazy 8 stores during the upcoming fiscal year.
