PLATTSBURGH — A new indoor golf driving range is set to open in the City of Plattsburgh.
The city's Recreation Department will house the new range at the Recreation Center at 52 U.S. Oval Ave. It will open Thursday in previously unused space.
"We are really excited to provide this opportunity to the community," Recreation Director Steve Peters said.
"Golf is a sport that crosses many generations and can be practiced by anyone from 8 to 80 years old."
The driving range is 60 feet long by 25 feet high and 40 feet wide. It can accommodate up to three golfers at a time.
Rates will be $5 for a bucket of 50 golf balls.
Golfers can practice with any club and can work on chip-shot skills with integrated targets.
"We can now provide a year-round outlet to the golf community, as well as make good use of space at the Recreation Center," Peters said.
Mayor Donald Kasprzak said the driving range was a good project for the Recreation Department to undertake.
"We continue to offer recreational opportunities for our residents, and hopefully this is one that people will appreciate and take advantage of."
The range will be open the same hours as the Recreation Center: Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
People don't need a base membership to use the driving range, and it is first come, first served.
