PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The U.S. Senate has confirmed a Maine man to become the federal co-chairperson of a commission that aims to create jobs and boost the economy in the northern reaches of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York.
Sandy Blitz of Hudson was confirmed Wednesday night for the new position with the Northern Border Regional Commission.
Blitz owns a company that helps public and private institutions get government grants and loans and recently served as regional administrator of the Small Business Administration.
The commission will help create jobs in a 36-county area by investing in infrastructure improvements, high-speed Internet access, health care and renewable energy.
