RAY BROOK — The Adirondack Park Agency will meet Thursday and Friday at APA Headquarters in Ray Brook.
The full agency will convene at 9 a.m. Thursday for the executive director's report, followed by a meeting of the Regulatory Programs Committee. That will conclude with a staff briefing on the status of Adirondack bridge projects.
At 10:30, the Legal Affairs Committee will discuss the proposed regulatory revision hearing record for "boathouses" and "dock" definitions.
The committee will review the record, public comment and consider how to proceed, based on the State Administrative Procedure Act process. This is an informational meeting, and no actions will be taken.
At 1 p.m., Barbara Delaney and Russell Dunn will brief the State Land Committee on their new trail guide, "Trails with Tales: History Hikes through the Adirondack Park and the Lake George, Lake Champlain & Mohawk Valley Regions." The guidebook provides descriptions for hikers, paddlers, mountain bikers and cross-country skiers on trails made famous by Adirondack guides, writers, artists, colonial settlers and historic sites from the French and Indian and Revolutionary wars. It includes trips to abandoned iron mines, ruins of tanneries, Adirondack Great Camps, lost villages and other historic sites.
The committee will also consider adopting a memorandum of understanding between the APA and Department of Environmental Conservation regarding guidelines for implementing control of invasive species on Forest Preserve lands.
At 3 p.m., the Local Government Committee will meet, with a demonstration of a new electronic file system that provides staff with searchable electronic documents to answer questions on project review and compliance with local land-use laws.
At 4 p.m., the full agency will take any action necessary and conclude the session with committee reports, public and member comment.
At 9 a.m. Friday, the Park Ecology Committee will hear a discussion of sustainable forest certification programs, such as the Sustainable Forest Initiative, the Forest Stewardship Council and American Tree Farm System, which require systematic compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
The meeting will conclude at 10 a.m. with a Community Spotlight presentation by Town of Inlet Supervisor John Frey.
The meeting will be Webcast live at www.apa.state.ny.us.
The next meeting is April 15 and 16 at the Adirondack Park Agency headquarters. All meetings are open to the public.
