City meeting will explain rehab program
PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh will hold a public meeting from 5 to 6 p.m. today in the Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall at 41 City Hall Place to provide information on the Housing Rehabilitation Program.
At the meeting, the city will distribute applications to those interested in applying for housing-repair grant funds.
The city received $500,000 from the New York State Department of Housing and Community Renewal HOME Program.
Income-eligible, single-family, owner-occupied homes may be eligible to qualify. Preference will be given to housing units in the most need.

Shelter Committee meeting venue changed
KEESEVILLE — The AuSable, Chesterfield, Keeseville Shelter Committee will meet tonight, but the venue for the gathering has changed.
Committee Co-chair Mary King said the 5:30 p.m. meeting will be held in the Keeseville Village Board room instead of the Chesterfield Town Offices, as originally planned.
The meeting is open to the public and will feature discussions on enhancing the committee's efforts to serve the three towns in the event of an emergency.
County to weigh Alert Facility demolition
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Legislature will meet at 7 tonight in the Legislative Chambers on the second floor of the Government Center, 137 Margaret St., Plattsburgh.
Among the resolutions to be acted upon are authorizing demolition of former Alert Facility, Phase 2 grant acceptance; awarding contract for 2010 capital equipment replacement of Unit 22 tractor; and congratulating Jay LePage on being named president of the New York State Public Welfare Association.
Meetings are open to the public.
Hearing-loss session canceled
PLATTSBURGH — The informational session on hearing loss and free hearing screenings, which had been scheduled for Thursday at the Clinton County Senior Citizens Council Inc., has been canceled.
This event may be rescheduled for a future date; if so, the information will be published in the Senior Sentinel.
Dannemora Council calls special meeting
DANNEMORA — The Dannemora Town Council will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Dannemora Town Hall regarding the Town Hall/Highway Garage building project.
The meeting is open to all.
Westport School Board formulating budget
WESTPORT — The Westport Central School Board will meet Thursday in the library.
A meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. to examine the program component of the budget. The regular meeting will begin at 6:30.
Regular meeting agenda items will include acceptance of a coaching resignation and the appointments of school tax collector, physician and auditor for the 2010-11 school year.
All board meetings are open to the public.
CVPH introducing Facebook site
PLATTSBURGH — CVPH Medical Center can now be found on the social-networking site Facebook.
To encourage community members to become fans of CVPH on Facebook, CVPH will hold a raffle every other Friday, beginning March 19.
Individuals who become fans of CVPH Medical Center will enter a drawing to win a $25 gift certificate to the Butcher Block. Participants are only eligible to win one time, and five gift certificates will be available.
Facebook will be used as a tool for both CVPH Medical Center and the Foundation of CVPH to provide news, updates and upcoming events for the community of the Champlain Valley. Through photos and videos, Facebook will provide a fast and user-friendly way to stay connected to the hospital.
