Small group attends final highway hearing
PLATTSBURGH — Only a handful of Clinton County residents turned out Thursday night to learn more about the Northern Tier Expressway study.

There were few suggestions made that related to the impact a four-lane expressway from Watertown and Rouses Point via Route 11 would have on Clinton County.

Those in attendance seemed to favor the possible interim improvements of additional bike paths and passing lanes, though some disagreed about where the new mile-long passing lanes were most needed.

The meeting was the final presentation scheduled to get community feedback about the study, which was conducted for the New York State Department of Transportation and Development Authority of the North Country.

Officials said the expressway could ultimately boost northern travel safety and economic development.
