Smoke forces Plattsburgh theater evacuation

PLATTSBURGH — The eight theaters at Regal Cinemas at Champlain Centre were evacuated as District 3 firefighters reported visible smoke at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

The cause was reported to be a heater with a fan malfunction that was overheating.

The movie theater was the only part of the mall open at the time. The rest of Champlain Centre closes at 6 p.m. on Sundays.
