New cell site
BEEKMANTOWN — Unicel customers in Clinton County can now benefit from better coverage and signal strength, a larger calling area, better voice quality and access to high-speed data transfer and other features.
Unicel's latest expansion of its wireless digital network includes a new cell site in Beekmantown as part of the company's ongoing investment in its network across upstate New York and Vermont. The Beekmantown cell site offers superior cellular coverage in Beekmantown as well as on Route 3 all around West Plattsburgh to Dannemora and Cadyville. Unicel's new cell site also benefits travelers on Route 22B in Morrisonville.
Unicel, which has been operating in the region since 1990, provides wireless services in primarily rural areas and plans to continue to add new cell sites based on customer needs and geography. The company's GSM-capable phones gives residents, travelers and business people the benefits of an advanced network. GSM technology is recognized as the worldwide standard for wireless communication.
"Unicel is committed to making sure its customers experience the best in wireless service," said Tom McLaughlin, director for Unicel. "Customers in Beekmantown and the surrounding areas will notice big improvements in the clarity and strength of our signal."
Unicel's lineup of data-compatible phones — including the Motorola Z6, V8 and the Q (with GPS navigation) — allow customers to enjoy features including high-resolution video capabilities, games and weather radar, advanced features such as Unicel's Pictures2GoSM picture mail and the Mail2GoSM e-mail program as well as additional services. To take advantage of these new features and the improved cellular network, customers need to have data-enabled phones.
Unicel operates a retail store at 43 Smithfield Blvd. in Plattsburgh as well as numerous authorized agent locations. Unicel's specialized B2B team also serves business accounts in the area.

Partnership announced
PLATTSBURGH — Price Chopper Supermarkets has announced that the company, under its established 'Healthy U' umbrella, will be partnering with EatingWell Media Group, an international, "best-in-class" publication and e-network headquartered in Burlington, Vt., to deliver delicious, easy recipes that meet stringent guidelines for taste and nutrition and are easily replicated by home cooks.
It will also report on the latest news on nutrition and health, providing actionable, science-based answers and encouraging people to make informed, mindful eating decisions.
"EatingWell Magazine is to food what Sports Illustrated is to sports, what Rolling Stone is to music and what Time Magazine is to current events," said Mona Golub, Price Chopper's vice president of Public Relations and Consumer Services. "EatingWell's irresistible recipes and reliable nutritional information are linked to a host of highly regarded sources for food and health information, including The FoodNetwork.com, MSN Lifestyles, HealthPartners, Yahoo! Food.com, Web MD and DiscoveryHealth. And now, Price Chopper is poised to share a dynamic cornucopia of recipes and food information by offering the fruits of EatingWell's labor to our customers."
EatingWell's accessible approach to nutrition and eating — the place "where good taste meets good health" — complements Price Chopper's Healthy U initiative. Healthy U provides the latest information on nutrition and diet and a forum for Price Chopper shoppers to share comments on nutrition issues in stores, online, at events throughout the community and via the Healthy U Connection online at www.pricechopper.com and by phone at 1-800-767-7667.
In the coming months, Price Chopper shoppers will see results of this new partnership that take advantage of unparalleled health and nutrition resources in new Eating Well recipes and health guides in stores, a new series of wellness topics and resources on the Healthy U page of Price Chopper's Web site and EatingWell cookbooks and magazines available throughout the chain's supermarkets.
