No new court date scheduled for Ortloff

PLATTSBURGH -- Former Assemblyman Chris Ortloff remains behind bars, and it's unclear when he'll return to court for allegedly trying to solicit sex from minors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Spina said Tuesday there's still no date set for when the 61-year-old will return to court to face federal charges for allegedly trying to arrange sex with two underage girls earlier this year.

Spina said he's in the process of turning over evidence and documents to Ortloff's attorney, Andrew Safranko, who has not returned repeated Press-Republican messages seeking comment on the high-profile case.

Washington County Jail officials said Ortloff was still being held there Tuesday afternoon, though it was unclear if he had been placed in the special-housing unit or the general population.
