State Board of Elections urging New Yorkers to vote

ALBANY -- The New York State Board of Elections is reminding New Yorkers to vote.

If an eligible voter will be out of their county or New York City on Election Day, Nov. 4, or will be unable to go to the polls because of illness or physical disability, they may vote by absentee ballot.

Voters, including previously registered military personnel, will receive an absentee ballot after they complete an application and mail it to their county Board of Elections no later than Tuesday, Oct. 28, or hand deliver it by Monday, Nov. 3.

All completed absentee ballots must be postmarked by Monday, Nov. 3, and received no later than Tuesday, Nov. 11, at their county Board of Elections. However, military voters have until Nov. 17 for their ballot to be received by the board.

Absentee ballots may also be hand delivered to your county board prior to the closing of the polls on Election Day.

Applications for absentee ballots are available at any county Board of Elections office, and application forms can be downloaded by clicking on "Absentee Voting" on the New York State Board of Elections Web site, www.elections.state.ny.us. Please contact your county Board of Elections for information on extended office hours for in-person absentee voting.
