Photos of cats up for adoption available online

By ANDREA VAN VALKENBURG

PLATTSBURGH -- As Plattsburgh City Police continue searching for homes for 11 recently seized cats, officials posted their photos online, hoping to draw more local interest.

Anyone interested in providing a permanent or temporary placement for the young cats -- three males, five female cats and three nursing kittens -- can see their photos on the police Web site: http://plattsburghpd.net.

There's an animal-adoption link on the homepage where anyone interested can see individual snapshots of the felines.

Each one has been evaluated and treated at a local veterinarian's office and is ready for adoption.

Chief Desmond Racicot hopes area residents can provide them homes because the city can no longer cover their housing expenses and the only other option is having them euthanized, since area shelters are full.

The cats have not been neutered but are in good condition after recently being found living without adequate care inside a Margaret Street apartment complex.

Officials had already received numerous inquires about the cats, but they were all still available as of midday Friday.

For more information about the cats, contact City Police at 563-3411.
