Allegiant cuts some Fla. flights, but not here

PLATTSBURGH -- Allegiant Air's decision to stop service between Fort Lauderdale and five airports is not expected to have any impact on the airline's service to Plattsburgh International Airport.

The airline recently decided to discontinue Fort Lauderdale flights from Huntington, W.V.; Allentown, Pa.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Greensboro, N.C.; and Tri-Cities, Tenn.

That leaves only three airports where Allegiant provides service to Fort Lauderdale, including Plattsburgh.

Allegiant spokeswoman Tyri Squyres said the announcement doesn't mean the airline will be discontinuing flights from Plattsburgh.

"We continue to be very confident in Plattsburgh as a market, particularly for Fort Lauderdale. Plattsburgh is one of the reasons we will continue to use Fort Lauderdale as a base," she said.

The airline presently offers four flights a week each way between Plattsburgh and Fort Lauderdale.
