Anthony D. Searing has been elected president of the Plattsburgh Rotary Club for the 2007-08 year. Searing, general manager of Mold-Rite Plastics Inc. in Plattsburgh, is currently the first vice president of the service club organization and will replace President Randy Trombley beginning July 1.

The membership also elected: Steven G. Frederick, first vice president; Bonnie-Leigh A. Black, second vice president; Hannah Hanford, sergeant-at-arms; Barbara A. Straw, secretary; and Marsha K. Cook, treasurer.

Elected directors-at-large to serve three year terms on the Board of Directors are: Robert Frenyea, Robert Grugle, Vicki Marking and Reed Racette.

Also appointed to complete one-year unexpired terms on the Board of Directors are Jon Cooper and Keith Tyo.

The Plattsburgh Rotary Club was formed in 1926 and has a current membership of about 115 active members. The club meets at 12:15 p.m. Wednesdays at the Elks Lodge, 56 Cumberland Ave. in Plattsburgh.

Adirondack Community Action Programs Executive Director Alan Jones has been elected to serve on the New York State Community Action Agency Board.

The statewide board brings together community action professionals from all parts of the state to address issues and concerns. The appointment was made official at the annual conference held in Poughkeepsie.

At the conference, Barbara Allen, ACAP weatherization director, was also elected to serve as New York State Weatherization Directors Association liaison to the State Community Action Board.

ACAP provides services for children, adults, seniors and families through programs including After School, Child Care, Head Start, Employment and Training, Nutrition Program for the Elderly and Weatherization.

Jeremy Chase of Beekmantown Middle School was recently named Teacher of the Year from the Plattsburgh Sam's Club.

Chase received a check for $1,000 to be used in his classroom. He also received a framed certificate and a $100 gift card for himself.

The local Sam's Club also presented Chase with a cake for him to share with his students and co-workers.
