Route 9B near Rouses Point open

ROUSES POINT — Route 9B was reopened Tuesday afternoon after being closed for a brief period.

Power lines were down across Route 9B between Choiniere Road in Champlain and Rouses Point’s Smith Street, blocking access to the village.

State Police and Rouses Point Police began detouring traffic late in the morning with assistance from local firefighters. Motorists were sent down Choiniere Road and then onto Smith Street.

Clinton County Fire Control didn’t know how the wires came down, but a firefighter directing traffic said they were caught by a passing tractor-trailer.
