Woman crashes cycle in Minerva

MINERVA — A Lewis County woman was injured when her motorcycle went off the roadway here Tuesday afternoon and plunged down an embankment.

Schroon Lake-based State Police reported that Juanita Anderson, 42, of Lowville was riding a motorcycle on State Route 28N in the Town of Minerva when she lost control of the bike, which ran onto the shoulder of the road on a curve and struck guardrails.

The motorcycle continued on over the guardrails and down an embankment, throwing Anderson off.

Police said she was in the area attending the Americade motorcycle rally at Lake George. She was apparently riding with several other motorcycles as part of a rally tour when the crash took place.

Minerva Ambulance Squad treated Anderson until the North Country LifeFlight helicopter arrived and transported her to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

She was listed in critical but stable condition Wednesday with multiple injuries.

No tickets have been issued in the crash.
