Essex County sex offender jailed

LEWIS — A convicted sex offender has been charged with not correctly reporting his address.

Adam B. Lafond of Minerva was charged with felony failure to perform a duty to register as a sex offender and felony failure to report change of address as a sex offender.

As a Level 2 sex offender, Lafond was required under state law to submit a letter annually verifying his address information.

Lafond allegedly failed to do so in the time allotted.

He was also required to file a change of address form any time he moved.

Lafond had been staying at a residence in Hudson Falls, law-enforcement officials said, but his registry address was in Minerva.

He turned himself in to the Essex County Sheriff’s Department on May 25.

He was arraigned and committed to the Essex County Jail when he couldn’t pay $2,500 cash bail.
