Volunteers needed for ADK education
LAKE PLACID — The Adirondack Mountain Club is seeking volunteers to help its Education Department run educational programming.

Positions will include such duties as staffing a small nature museum, answering questions from hikers at backcountry trailheads, acting as a resource for backcountry bear information and leading interpretive walks.

A training session will be conducted 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 20. All volunteers receive meals and free parking while volunteering, and there are opportunities for free campground accommodations for some positions.

All volunteer opportunities are at the Heart Lake Program Center, near Lake Placid at the end of Adirondack Loj Road.

Summer programs run from June 26 through Labor Day.

Food package for April available
ELIZABETHTOWN — The Extra Helpings Program has a food package and several special offers available for April.

Extra Helpings, $21: whole turkey, mild bulk sausage roll, chicken patties, talapia fish fillets, potatoes and celery.

Special 1, $12.50: block sliced white American cheese.

Special 2, $19.25: bag breaded chicken tenders.

Special 3, meat box, $32: chuck beef pot roast, boneless/skinless/I.Q.F. chicken breast.

Pay by April 9. There is no age or income limit to participate in the program.

Orders will be picked up April 28 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd Parish Hall, Williams Street, Elizabethtown.
