SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The Burlington International Airport is losing an airline, at least for now.
Airport Director Brian Searles tells the Burlington Free Press he learned Wednesday that AirTran won't bring back this year flights between Burlington and Baltimore as it had said it would.
AirTran began providing service from Burlington to Baltimore two years ago.
The airline said last year the route would be downgraded to a four-month seasonal service, but it would resume in 2010. The last flight was in September.
AirTran spokesman Christopher White says routes the airline has chosen have the most sustainable profitability projections.
Searles says AirTran could reconsider Burlington service next year.
