Jury convicts St. Regis Falls man on drug charges

MALONE — A jury took less than two hours to convict a St. Regis Falls man of two of the three drug charges he faced in Franklin County Court.

Ritchie DeCarr, 59, was convicted of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance before Acting County Court Judge Felix J. Catena.

He was found not guilty of one count of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Sentencing is set for April 26, when he could face nine years in state prison on each count.

It was a series of tips from the community that led to the arrest and conviction, said District Attorney Derek Champagne.

After two days of testimony, the jury took about an hour and 45 minutes to come back with a verdict.

The case was tried by Assistant District Attorneys Elizabeth Crawford and Gary Pasqua.
