Franklin County Fair trots out harness racing today

MALONE — Catch harness racing at the Franklin County Fair today.

Races begin at 1 p.m., followed at 2 p.m. by harness racing under saddle.

The fair runs through Sunday. 

Here are more highlights:

TODAY

5 to 9 a.m.: Colored breed cattle released.

8 a.m.: Western Horse Show (outside arena).

10 a.m.: Poultry Show.

11 a.m.: Rooster Crowing Contest.

1 p.m.: Harness racing.

2 p.m.: Harness racing under saddle.

6 p.m.: Horse Show (inside arena).

7:30 p.m.: Rhonda Vincent & the Rage; admission, $10.

THURSDAY

(Children’s Day, reduced midway prices until 5 p.m.; and Senior Citizens Day, $2 admission for those 62 and older).

8 a.m.: Pony and Horse Show (infield arena).

10 a.m.: Poultry Show; and 4-H Goat conformation and showmanship (inside arena).

11 a.m.: Holstein and beef cattle in place; and Rooster Crowing Contest.

Noon: 4-H Alpaca Show (inside arena).

1 p.m.: New York Sire Stakes harness racing.

2 p.m.: 4-H Goat costume classes and pack goat obstacle course (inside arena).

5 p.m.: Western Horse Show (inside arena).

7 p.m.: Home Town Parade.

7:30 p.m.: YMCA Franklin County has Talent show; admission, $10.

FRIDAY

8 a.m.: Pony Show (infield arena).

9 a.m.: 4-H Cloverbud Holstein fitting and presentation.

9:30 a.m.: 4-H Holstein showmanship and conformation.

10 a.m.: Poultry Show; and Open Beef Show.

11 a.m.: Rooster Crowing Contest.

1 p.m.: Harness racing.

5 p.m.: Horse Show and costume class (inside arena); and 4-H horse showmanship.

6 p.m.: 4-H Talent Show.

7 p.m.: Mallory Hope concert.

7:30 p.m.: Travis Tritt concert; admission, $15.

SATURDAY

8 a.m.: Miniature Horse and Donkey Show (outside arena).

8:30 a.m.: Holstein Club showmanship (inside arena).

9 a.m.: Holstein cattle judging, open class.

10 a.m.: Poultry Show.

1 p.m.: Rooster Crowing Contest finals; and 4-H Rabbit Conformation and Show.

4 p.m.: 4-H Beef Show.

7 p.m.: Mallory Hope concert.

7:30 p.m.: Kellie Pickler, admission, $15.

SUNDAY

8 a.m.: Open-sanctioned Goat Show (inside arena).

10 a.m.: Turkey Calling Contest.

4 p.m.: All-Star Weekend, admission, $12.
