Peru Central School Board to hold budget discussion

PERU — The Peru Central School Board will hold its next "community conversation" to aid in budget development at 6 p.m. today in the High School cafeteria.

Residents at this session will be asked to help identify:

▶ Ways public education may be changing over the next three years in Clinton County due to continued gaps between forecasted revenues and expenditures.

▶ How instructional programs or support operations at Peru Central could be suitably revamped with reduced cost.

▶ Topics for the ad-hoc task force on grade six to consider in regard to possible assignment of that grade to the elementary-grades program.

The School Board will then hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the community room adjacent to the main entrance of Peru High School.

An executive session will begin immediately associated with the performance history of certain employees.

The board will reconvene at about 7:30 p.m. Agenda items include discussion of the $3.1 million projected gap between revenue and expenditures estimated for 2012-13, which preliminary projections show could necessitate loss of at least 10 full-time positions and reduction in hours for 11 other jobs.

Dannemora to discuss highway post

DANNEMORA — A special meeting of the Dannemora Town Council has been scheduled for 4 p.m. today in the Dannemora Town Hall concerning the position of highway superintendent.

An executive session will be called.

Town Council meetings are open to the public.

Beekmantown School Board invites budget input

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Central School Board will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Middle/High School library.

Agenda items include a public session from 5 to 6:15 p.m. inviting input from the public on budget containment ideas, followed by substitute appointments, a retirement and policy discussion.

The board anticipates going into executive session to discuss proposed litigation.

Willsboro School Board to discuss policies

WILLSBORO — The Willsboro Central School Board will hold a regular board meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the conference room of Willsboro Central School, 29 School Lane.

Items on the agenda include policies for review and personnel.

The public is encouraged to attend.

Chazy School Board to discuss budget

CHAZY — The Chazy Central Rural School Board of Education will have their regular board meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday. Topics of discussion will include the school budget, open swim program, spring coaches and American Red Cross.

The public is encouraged to attend.

SLCS Board to appoint clerk pro-tem

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Central School Board will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the library at Petrova School.

Items on the agenda include a board self-evaluation and appointment of clerk pro-tem.

No public business will be addressed, but the meeting is open to the public.

The School Board will meet for its regular session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Items for discussion include the approval of a math textbook recommended by the superintendent, a possible additional board meeting at budget time and the superintendent's and board members' reports.

An executive session will be held if necessary.

The public is encouraged to attend.

Keeseville Zoning Board cancels meeting

KEESEVILLE — The Keeseville Zoning Board has canceled its meeting set for Wednesday.

The next scheduled session is 7 p.m. March 21 in the Village Board Room, 58 Liberty Street, Keeseville.

The session is open to the public.

Elizabethtown-Lewis School Board to work on budget

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room, with possible board member video conferencing.

A budget discussion is on the agenda.

The public is welcome to attend.
