Tupper Lake man charged with rape

SARANAC LAKE — A Tupper Lake man was charged Wednesday with multiple sex offenses.

Jeremiah J. Finley, 30, was arrested by Saranac Lake Village Police after turning himself in at the Tupper Lake Police Department on a warrant at about 2 p.m.

He is charged with raping a female under the age of 17.

Saranac Lake Police Chief Bruce Nason said Finley knew the young victim through a mutual acquaintance and had violated her “multiple times” over a period of three months.

Finley faces five counts of third-degree rape and one count of third-degree criminal sex act, both felonies. He is also charged with multiple misdemeanors for providing false written statements and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

He was arraigned in Saranac Lake Village Court before being sent to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

Finley was still in custody at County Jail as of Thursday afternoon.
