MALONE — Dozens of seized vehicles, surplus machinery and office equipment will be sold by Franklin County at auction today.
Bidders can preview the items beginning at 8 a.m. at the County Highway Garage at 14981 Route 30 in Malone until the auction beings at 10 a.m.
A list of many of the featured items and photographs of 25 of them are posted on the county's website at www.franklin cony.org.
The sale is being held by Scott Hamilton and Ed Legacy of H&L Auctions with auctioneer Willis Shattuck.
All items are sold as is, and each has their flaws, faults and features written on them so the buyer knows their condition before bidding begins.
Among the lots up for bid are a variety of vehicles, boats, trailers and recreational vehicles seized by the Franklin County Border and Narcotics Task Force during a series of drug raids dating back more than five years.
There is also equipment from county-contract agencies like ComLinks, which is selling off vans and trucks used in its operation.
There are also two 12-passenger buses, a 20-passenger bus and a 16-passenger Ford vehicle for sale.
The towns of Bombay and Constable and the Village of Saranac Lake have also consigned items to the auction.
Other large items to be sold include surplus heavy equipment such as a Cat D-5 bulldozer, two dump trucks, a 1968 Linkbelt crane, a flatbed trailer, a 1965 Linkbelt shovel and a brush-hog hydraulic-power unit.
Of special interest in the auction are a 1980 asphalt paver, a 2005 Mitsubishi 4x4 dump truck with 17,000 miles, a new Woodmaster outdoor furnace and a complete electronic Bingo board and ball machine.
The office supplies and miscellaneous equipment up for sale include typewriter stands, cabinets and containers, scanners, a scooter, recliners, a sink, an enclosed shower unit, exercise equipment, desks and chairs, a fax machine, computer monitors and a two-door commercial refrigerator.
Bidders should note that only cash and good checks will be accepted.
There is a 10-percent buyer's premium plus 8-percent tax to each purchase unless a tax-exempt number is provided.
