Neil Philip Buffett graduated Dec. 22 from Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, Long Island, with a Doctor of Philosophy in history. He graduated from Plattsburgh State with his bachelor's degree and St. Rose, Albany, with his master's.
Buffett is a full-time professor at Suffolk Community College, Selden, Long Island. He is the son of Elizabeth Patten Buffett of Plattsburgh and David Buffett of Morrisonville.

Sebastian Barie, 18, of Rouses Point is one of several students in the region who had applied for tuition reimbursement for the 2011 fall semester, as part of the FASNY HELP initiative. A member of the Rouses Point Volunteer Fire Department, Barie is a student at Clinton Community College, majoring in criminal justice. He joined the fire department two years ago.
David Jeffrey Defazio of Little Silver, N.J., son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Defazio of Lake Placid and Little Silver, was awarded a bachelor of arts degree from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, N.J. Defazio, a self-employed figure-skating coach, is a graduate student at the International University of Monaco.
