Brian J. Curry of Plattsburgh graduated from Boston University, Massachusetts with a Master of Arts degree in medical science.
Thirteen students at Ticonderoga High School have earned Advance Placement Scholar Awards in recognition of exceptional achievement on these exams.
Sarah Bennett's was recognized with distinction for a grade of at least 3.5 on all exams. Brendan Carberry, David Mallon, Maxwell North and Alexander Walters each earned honors distinction with grades of at least 3.25 on all exams and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Eight students qualified for the award by completing three or more exams with grades of 3 or higher. They are Samantha Adamson, Molly Ginn, Joshua Huestis, Michaela Jebb, Jacob Kelly, Alexandra Reale, Jacob Taylor and Gregory Towne.
Two students at Saranac Lake High School earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement.
Jacob Fallica qualified with honors by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Kierstin Daviau completed three or more AP exams with grades of 3 or higher.
Ben Chapman attended the Earth Science Olympiad in Taipei, Taiwan, last fall. A senior at Ticonderoga High School, Chapman was selected after attending an engineering camp at the University of Vermont. He was one of a four-member team that competed in written, field and team site challenges. The competition was the third to be held and included teams from 15 countries.
Chapman is captain of the Ticonderoga Quiz Bowl team, a cross-country runner, National Honor Society officer and Student Voice president. He is the son of Malinda and Glen Chapman of Ticonderoga and active in both the music and computer programs at school.

Paul P. Jones, son of Linda Jones of Lake Placid and Paul Jones of Skaneateles, received his Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina, Keenan-Flagler Business School.
The grandson of Oren and Connie Preston and Paul and Esther Jones, all of Lake Placid, he was vice president of the MBA class.
Following a trip to climb Mount Kilamanjaro and a vacation in Africa, Jones is employed at Morgan Stanley in New York City as an associate on the emerging markets credit and trading desk.
Krystle King, daughter of William and Mary King of Saranac, has been named to the dean's list at SUNY Potsdam.
Megan Ann Momot, daughter of John and Sharon Momot, has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from SUNY Potsdam. She is working on her master's degree in counseling at Plattsburgh State University.
Valerie Duquette, daughter of Basil R. Duquette III and Lynn Duquette of Chazy, is participating in fundraising for Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pa., through its student-calling program. In addition to calling parents and alumni, Duquette's responsibilities include updating the database and informing supporters of what is happening on the campus. She is a sophomore communications major with an emphasis on journalism and a 2008 graduate of Beekmantown Central School.
Lauren Meath of Plattsburgh is enrolled in the Doctor of Psychology degree in clinical psychology at Antioch University, Keene, N.H. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at SUNY Plattsburgh and her Master of Arts degree at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Emily Clark-Waterson, originally of Lake Placid, was named Employee of the Month at the Grand Canyon National Park in the F&B; department. She works as an El Tovar server. She graduate from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry with a bachelors degree in landscape architecture. The granddaughter of Janet and Matt Clark of Lake Placid, she studied tea gardens in Japan while a student.
Suzannah Chatlos, daughter of Jo Ellen and John Chatlos of Plattsburgh, and a student at Hamilton College, Clinton, has been elected to the Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest honor society in the country. A senior majoring in psychology, she is a graduate of Plattsburgh High School.
Jennifer Menard of Plattsburgh and Leah Morrow of Port Kent have been accepted into the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park. Menard will study toward a bachelor's degree in baking and pastry arts management. She is a graduate of Plattsburgh High School. Morrow will also study baking and pastry arts in the associate's program.
Three area residents interned with the SUNY Oswego Experience-based Education Program. Erica L. Salamy of Tupper Lake, a senior human development major, interned at the Oswego YMCA, Sarah J. Stratford of Bloomingdale, a senior marketing major spent the time at Step One Creative, Oswego, and Brian L. Trotter of Saranac Lake, a junior human development major, took part interning at Riley Elementary School, Oswego. The students earned college credits while garnering real-life experience.
Keith Letky of Plattsburgh, a civil engineering technician student at Mohawk Valley Community College, Utica, has been inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. Students must have a 3.5 GPA or higher to be honored.
Local students inducted into the Ithaca College Oracle Honor Society are Kiersten Irwin of Lake Placid, daughter of Melven Irwin and Christine Varden, a clinical health studies major, Robert Lawyer of Tupper Lake, son of Beth and Robert Lawyer, a business administration major and Francine Price of Peru, daughter of Deanne and Williams Price, a television-radio, video production major.
Rosa Ganiszewski, a student at Clinton Community College, has received a $3,000 scholarship from the American Legion Post 1619, part of a Crab Island Memorial Scholarship, named in memory of the soldiers who lost their lives in defense of our freedoms.
