PERU —
A local handyman has admitted possessing dozens of images of child pornography on his personal computer.
Authorities began investigating Christopher Crowningshield in January after someone he lived with called police after they saw the inappropriate pictures.
After seizing the 38-year-old's computer, State Police investigators found numerous images of children engaged in inappropriate sexual acts.
Crowningshield initially pleaded not guilty to the allegations, but recently admitted his guilt in Clinton County Court.
After pleading guilty to five felony counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, Crowningshield was sentenced to five-to-15 years behind bars.
Judge Patrick McGill also made him pay a surcharge, forfeit his computer and submit a DNA sample.
Crowningshield will have to register as a sex offender upon his release.
The Peru man is now serving his time at Downstate Correctional Facility.
