Peruvian arrested at Champlain border CHAMPLAIN — U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Operations arrested Aldo Contreras Liberati, 43, of Peru, South America, on Sunday aboard a commercial bus at the Champlain Port of Entry. According to a Department of Homeland Security press release, Contreras Liberati presented the patrol with an Italian passport of a 43-year-old man born in Peru and bearing Contreras Liberati's photo. Border Patrol later determined that the Peru man used the false identity as a cover due to being wanted in Peru for charges of sexual acts with a child. He was arraigned in federal court on Monday and faces charges of reproduction or fraud of citizenship documents and sexual acts with a child. Once proceedings are completed in the United States, Contreras Liberati will be extradited to Peru.
