Car chase nets arrest

PLATTSBURGH — A car chase on Monday night ended with an arrest after an allegedly intoxicated Plattsburgh man fled police, his vehicle striking parked cars in the process.

Clinton County Sheriff's Deputies tried to stop Lance D. Lamora, 32, after he failed to signal while driving on Oak Street, according to a Sheriff's Department press release.

Instead of stopping, Lamora allegedly fled from the deputies down several streets and struck two parked cars on Court Street.

He then fled the accident on foot.

Lamora was finally arrested at 11:30 p.m. behind his home in Plattsburgh, the release said.

Plattsburgh City Police Department, Plattsburgh State University Police and State Police, including a K-9 team, aided the deputies.

Lamora was charged with six misdemeanors: unlawful fleeing a police officer; reckless driving; resisting arrest; third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation; leaving the scene of a personal injury accident; and driving while intoxicated.

His violations were for refusing to submit a chemical test; failing to stop at a stop sign; failing to keep right; failing to obey a traffic signal; and failing to signal.

After being treated for injuries, Lamora was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court.

He is due to reappear on Monday, Feb. 6.
